Aerospace – Capabilities
SIFCO Applied Surface Concepts has been a world leader in the development and supply of selective brush plating and anodizing technologies and services since 1959. Building on this long, proven history, we have advanced what once was a manual, labor-intensive process to one which can be fully automated thereby minimizing labor costs, providing for well-controlled quality and cost effectiveness.
Part of this advancement includes our Dur-A-Form™ anode technology that provides for elegant, single-anode plating operations. In addition to selective brush plating and anodizing, SIFCO Applied Surface Concepts has also developed improved techniques for encapsulated plating, including our patented CVGP™ methods.
Looking ahead, SIFCO Applied Surface Concepts is developing nano-crystalline technologies which are showing promise for replacement of chrome plating deposits while providing similar hardness and improved slip properties.
Beyond plating deposits, SIFCO is working on selective cold-spray methods which provide for thicker deposits the plating, but without the heat distortion associated with other thermal spray technologies.

Co-Cr3C2 Metal Matrix Composite
SIFCO Applied Surface Concepts has developed a new Co-Cr3C2 metal matrix composite for high temperature applications. This deposit is selectively applied to localized areas on components for either OEM or repair applications.

SIFCO’s Co-Cr3C2 is an adherent, ductile, dense, non-porous deposit that provides high temperature oxidation protection with superior wear resistance that can be improved by heat treating. These micrographs show Cr3C2 particles, uniformly deposited in a 6 mil thick, machinable cobalt deposit. |
